Our client is a Waste Management company, which provides services to the Oil & Gas sector in Angola. As part of the business expansion project, it intends to recruit an Operations Manager for one of its bases in Angola.

Descrição da Função

Reporting to the General Manager, your main mission will be managing the company’s Operations Department and being responsible for the Waste Management Division, Cleaning Services (Tank cleaning and Jet Fuel), Rental & CCUs, Outsourcing Services, Logistics, Operations Support and Quality Control. You’ll have to define a the Department’s strategy and ensure proper planning and coordination of activities in alignment with the company’s vision and strategy, aiming towards a continuous improvement process in order to increase the overall effectiveness and efficiency in delivering quality services and products, that satisfy the company, clients and stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:

– Define Operations’ strategy and policies, as well as long-term and mid-term integrated operational planning, in alignment with the corporate vision;
– Make capacity planning together with 2nd Line Managers, monitoring resources scheduling, allocation and levelling;
– Take part in the Operations budget definition together with the General Manager, incorporating Division Managers feedback;
– Prepare budget forecasts to reflect current and future utilization of facilities and equipment;
– Be in control of the Department´s Cost Management, keeping within the budget, but also by carrying out Earned Value Analysis;
– Ensure that relevant requirements of the Management System are implemented within his area of responsibility, having the authority to initiate immediate corrective action to prevent the occurrence of a non-conformance;
– Definition of Operations Key Performance Indicators (KPI), setting targets for Operations Department Divisions;
– Conduct operations review meetings with Operations 2nd line Managers regularly, for troubleshooting and performance evaluation;
– Review monthly facility reports and suggests methods of improving operational performance;
– Monitor and control the preparation and submission of monthly/ annual facility report by the Quality Control Manager, and give support when required;
– Liaise with the General Manager on all operations issues that affect the Company;
– Liaise frequently with Commercial & Business Development Manager, namely regarding work orders and invoicing issues;
– Liaise and manage the relationship with external entities on operational matters (e.g. clients, authorities, etc.);
– Communicate effectively with clients and manage client relationship, identifying opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships;
– Lead Health and Safety initiative, which includes undertaking Risk assessments and assignment of appropriate precautionary measures as required.

Perfil do Candidato

– Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or other degree since with proved experience in the Operations area;
– Minimum 7 years of experience in similar role, as long as it is in an industrial context;
– Experience in Oil & Gas Industry is valued;
– Experience in Waste Management Sector including hazardous Waste Management is highly valued;
– Fluent in English and Portuguese (mandatory);
– Solid experience in leadership and people management, valuing experience in relationships with unions;
– Strong ability to develop people;
– Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills;
– Strong strategic vision, planning and decision-making skills;
– Strong competence in strategic planning;
– Business and results orientation;
– Customer orientation;
– Availability to work in Angola full time.
